City Slicker

The truth is, I never envisioned myself creating a blog, however, somehow, here I am today. I aspire to leverage these journal entries as a way to document my growth visually, exchange my thoughts, objectives, strategies, and any discoveries that I unearth as I navigate through the world of photography.

On this day my initial plan to journey up north to capture some coastal shots shifted, prompting me to begin documenting the sights of my very own city first. The photos I present below are the images that emerged from this unexpected photo walk. Armed with my Sony Alpha 7ii, I ventured out to capture a distinct perspective on the day in a life of one of the great cities as it transitioned into winter.

I tried to encapsulate the unique charm and essence of the urban landscape. Even on an overcast day, I knew it would be challenging to uncover the strong contrasts that typically define the city under a sunny sky. However, after making a couple of pit stops and savoring a cup of coffee or two, I was determined to give Sydney a certain aesthetic offering a fresh perspective of our bustling metropolis.
Now Sydney, a city with a relatively short history compared to the ancient cobblestone-laden streets of many European countries, inspired me to infuse this shoot with a touch of nostalgia, evoking the timeless glamour reminiscent of old school Hollywood.

After making my way through the city and past China Town, I strolled along to the Rocks and back to the Harbour with tired legs and an almost empty battery. Despite my fatigue after a wandering the city for 5 hours alone, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of happiness. Not only did I capture stunning shots of the city I call home, but it also allowed me to truly appreciate the subtle yet beautiful aspects that make this city truly great.
I discovered that regardless of the location or subject I am capturing, there is always beauty waiting to be found in the intricate details. Having a vision in my mind, I set out to portray this city in a unique style – a blend of charm and modernity, vintage yet elegant.
